CONSORTIUM

Consortium

The X-SEED consortium brings extensive technical expertise across a range of key enabling technologies, including: advanced simulation, material synthesis and characterization, electrochemistry, engineering, and social and sustainability matters.

Through a collaborative and synergistic approach, X-SEED addresses the entire project value chain, from catalyst development to the testing of the electrolyzer stack at the test bench stage. Also, incorporating activities such as social impact assessment, circularity, sustainability, communication, dissemination, exploitation of project results, and project management.

Key capabilities within the consortium include:

DTU, SNAM, and DeNora’s expertise in the simulation and design of electrolyzers at both cell and stack levels, utilizing multiphysics models, allowing the design of membrane-less electrolyzer.

Leitat and Particular Materials have great know-how in material synthesis, manufacturing, and the physicochemical and electrochemical characterization of materials. That enables the development and selection of optimal catalysts and electrodes for water electrolysis.

Particular Materials capabilities on the processes involving supercritical water allow the operation of the electrolyzer under supercritical water conditions

SNAM, DeNora, and Particular Materials have expertise in the fabrication and assembly of electrolyzer cells and stacks, along with the development of custom test benches. The test bench allows assessing the electrolyzer’s performance under supercritical conditions.

All the X-SEED partners have experience on the operation and characterization of water electrolysis technologies. It allows the validation of the supercritical electrolyzer at a laboratory scale, and the assessment of its electrochemical performance, energy efficiency, and cost competitiveness.

LEITAT’s and SNAM’s expertise in sustainability and exploitation ensure that all developments are aligned with minimizing environmental effect, guiding the project towards right environmental impacts.
