Driving Hydrogen Innovation Forward – X-SEED Consortium Meets in Barcelona

On June 12–13, the X-SEED consortium came together once again — this time in Barcelona, hosted by Leitat Technological Center. This in-person meeting marked an important milestone for the project, providing the space to reconnect, assess progress, and align on strategic and technical priorities.

Two Days of Collaboration and Progress

The agenda was packed with working sessions covering key areas of the project, from management and coordination to critical technical developments such as the design of the membrane-less supercritical cell, catalyst and electrode optimisation, and test bench preparation.

The first day kicked off with a warm welcome, followed by intensive discussions, updates on each partner’s contributions, and collaborative planning to ensure alignment across the work packages. We ended the day with a group dinner in the city — an ideal setting to reinforce the human side of collaboration and build stronger bonds beyond the work itself.

The second day continued with hands-on exchanges around system testing, technical challenges, and shared strategies to keep the project on track and moving fast.

A Shared Commitment to Clean Hydrogen

What stood out most during the meeting was the shared sense of purpose, energy, and commitment across the consortium. As a team, we took the opportunity not just to exchange data or plan next steps, but also to reflect on what we’ve achieved so far, what can be improved, and how we can maximise the impact of X-SEED in the European hydrogen landscape.

With renewed motivation, we leave Barcelona more connected and more determined than ever to continue advancing cutting-edge hydrogen technologies — together.
